Love the LORD
Lyrics/Music by Isaac Chang Yew Beng © 2019
Verse 1:
The LORD (יְהוָה Adonai), our God, is God
The LORD, our God, is one
The LORD, our God, is God
The LORD, our God, is one
Chorus:
I will love the LORD
With all I am, with all I have
I will love the LORD
With all the life You've given me
I will love the LORD
With all I am, with all I have
I will love the LORD
Oh, with all my strength, yea
I will love the LORD
I will love the LORD
Verse 2:
The LORD, our God, is God
The LORD, our God, is one
There is no one, like our God
He is the Lord and there's none
Story:
When I came across Deut 6:4-5 and its original text in Hebrew, I couldn't help myself by going into meditating. The ONEness of the LORD (translated from the Tetragrammaton, YHWH) or pronouncing it reverently as Adonai, flooded my being, the seat of my mind, and my power that I possess. It spoke to me that there is no other likes the LORD in the past, present, and future. Shema (Deut 6) here reminds me to recite it daily, not just verbally, but with my whole being, as one entity for one LORD that I love.
